What Can I Do For Myself?

Managing Your Time
If you feel as though there are simply not enough hours in the day for you to care for your child effectively and still have time for yourself, it may be time for you to reassess how you manage your time. Try some new methods to adjust your schedule and to help you get the most out of each day:

  • Set reasonable short- and long-term goals.
  • Make a plan for each day, week, and month. The plan should be something you can realistically accomplish.
  • Use a day planner or to-do lists to stay on track.
  • Divide time and tasks into categories, such as:
    • Must do now
    • Important but can wait
    • Not important
    • Wasted time
  • Manage your time around these categories, limiting or eliminating the last two.
  • Learn to say no. It is OK to turn down invitations and requests from others.
